for Schools & Early Years

An art-based approach to Social and Emotional Learning and wellbeing.

Creative Mindset workshops use art as a tool for inquiry, communication, reflection, connection and mindfulness.

And of course, because it’s FUN!

Please note, Creative Mindset is a Social and Emotional learning program that uses art for wellbeing and to reinforce understanding through ‘making’. It is not an art therapy service nor is it a Visual Arts program.

Creative Mindset workshops are based around familiar themes young people face that can influence and shape their development and self-esteem as they grow into adolescents and adults. Whilst creating, we discuss and share our experiences around these themes and equip our learners with the language and strategies required to process and cope with the emotions and challenges involved.

Art immersion reduces inhibitions and gives children a voice that enables them to express themselves in deeper ways than speech, written language or worksheets can provide. Our unique creative-based approach, harnesses and strengthens self-development, self-awareness and self-love and provides a supportive and respectful environment that allows children the freedom to explore, relax and express themselves through art, craft and design.

Our incursions centralise around six themes:

  • Community

  • Conflict

  • Emotions

  • Friendships

  • Identity

  • Mindfulness

And build CREATIVE humans who can:

  • Identify, analyse and process challenges.

  • Recognise factors that can and cannot be controlled.

  • Reflect on their own experiences.

  • Explore and take ownership of their emotions and actions.

  • Share and build strategies to overcome challenges.

  • Make informed decisions independently.

  • Trust in their CREATIVE capabilities! (See our CREATIVE Framework below)

A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

In consultation with child specialists and Subject Matter Experts including Art Therapists, Artlet applies a multidisciplinary approach to learning design to ensure our practices are evidence-based, purposeful and relevant.

EXPERT LEARNING DESIGN

Arltet’s practical and visual approach to learning ensures understanding is enhanced, engagement is maximised and accessibility is provided for all learners.

SAFE, RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENTS

Through our effective art-based approach, we provide opportunities for our learners to slow down, listen, reflect and make sense of themselves, their emotions and the world they live in. ‘Conversational art’ supports learners in lowering inhibitions while maximising engagement.

Safeguarding our learners

Safeguarding children is our top priority. Artlet implements a Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy and follows strict risk assessment procedures for all workshops. All Artlet employees hold current Blue Cards (and exemption cards) and have completed compulsory Student Protection training for the schools we work within. Due to the therapeutic nature of art, we are aware that practical workshops may trigger various responses or traumas of students. In the event that personal or confidential information is shared during our workshops, our employees are trained to respond appropriately and report information to your school in accordance with mandatory reporting obligations and Student Protection guidelines.

Important Reminder!

We want every child to enjoy their experience at our Artlet workshops. Please ensure that you notify Artlet of all needs and requirements of your child(REN) are shared with us upon booking so that we can provide them with the best support possible and maximise their engagement and safety. Needs may include, but are not limited to - dietary, allergies, behavioural, physical, learning, emotional needs.

Our workshops allow for 15 children to one adult facilitator so unfortunately individual instruction is not possible. If your child requires 1:1 support or attention to assist them in working independently, please get in touch to discuss private and smaller group options. Failing to advise us on your child’s needs can be dangerous for everybody involved in our workshops - especially when crafting tools and materials are used. Safety is our priority for all our students and failure to notify us may result in your booking being cancelled without a refund or credit.
