Through our VALUES…

Respect and kindness is important - to others, all living things, Country, right down to the materials we use and create with. However, we must show respect and kindness to ourselves too. Each of us have our own story - some more complex than others - but everyone and everything is equal and worthy of the same respect and kindness, ad this includes ourselves!

Everyone’s words, thoughts and feelings matter and are important. We use art to express ourselves freely and to relax our minds. Expression is a powerful tool, which helps us communicate, process and connect. But it does also involve responsiblity. We must be mindful and respectful in how we express ourselves and in the words we use with others.

We are all unique and that is beautiful! Others inspire us but we love and find acceptance in our identities. We are proud of, take care of and are accountable for the person we are and of our ideas and choices. Copying is never an option!

Think about how boring a pack of crayons would be if it was filled with just one colour? Ew!

…we can ACHIEVE

A brighter future for our young people, where open and judgement-free conversations surrounding mental health can be had without stigma, self-doubt or fear of rejection. We want all children to grow up believing and trusting in themselves, their instincts and their skillsets, knowing that it’s ok to love themselves and talk about feelings.

At the core of everything Artlet strives for is self-development, self-reflection and self-love.

Artlet is passionate about facilitating creative learning experiences that nurture and develop wellbeing and strengthen social and emotional C.R.E.A.T.I.V.E. capabilities. More than ‘just an art class’, Artlet workshops and programs are purposefully designed around conversational art, and exploring a range of mediums and art processes to strengthen resilience, build confidence and reduce stress.

At Artlet, we apply creativity to all that we do - as a business and as educators. Our passion lies in designing and facilitating learning experiences that ignite and nurture creativity, enhance and strengthen mindsets and encourage reflection and appreciation of self and the world around us.

Our workshops provide a supportive and respectful creative environment that allows children the freedom to explore and experiment with art processes and techniques and express themselves through art, craft and design using a wide range of media, tools and textiles.

Artlet’s team of qualified and experienced teachers and artists promote critical thinking and problem solving by encouraging our learners to take inspiration from the world around them, interpret artwork and imagery independently, think outside the box and trust in their own abilities when producing unique ideas and outcomes.

In response to the growing social, emotional and academic pressures faced by children both in and out of school, Artlet was established in 2019 with a vision for art-based education that moved away from perfecting techniques, reproducing artworks and stress-inducing practices. Our workshops provide a supportive and respectful creative environment that allows participants the freedom to explore, relax and express themselves through art, craft and design.

With over 20 years of experience across education, community arts, health and wellbeing, Artlet founder, Georgina McDonald (aka George / Mrs Mac) brings a unique blend of insight, empathy and expert learning design to every program. Her career has included roles with Education Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and the Clinical Skills Development Service at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. These experiences have shaped a deep, evidence-based understanding of how creative practices can build emotional literacy, reduce anxiety, improve confidence, and foster social connection across all age groups and abilities. Georgina’s knowledge of teaching, child development and learning design supports her in building engaging workshops that nurture and enrich children’s love of learning, strengthen development and promote wellbeing.

Georgina is a true creative and sparkles creativity into everything she does - as an educator, business owner, designer and even as a mum! Knowing, and having witnessed, the benefits art, design and practical learning have on development and wellbeing in both children and adults alike, Georgina continually strives to build programs and workshops that inspire, ignite curiosity, ‘think outside the box’, improve self-worth and encourage all learners to trust in themselves and have fun. And if you make a mistake? Pfft! That’s totally fine, because we all do!

Engaging in art has the ability to provide an escape, create connection, offer new experiences and overall, shape us positively as humans. It has the power to shape children and launch them into a lifetime of curiosity, appreciation and respect.”
